Fun Lines Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 31, 2026

What Fun Lines does
Fun Lines changes the page you are reading by replacing certain words with emojis and/or local vector icons. It can also apply an optional “bionic reading” style. Everything happens locally in your browser.

What data Fun Lines uses

  1. Web page text (local only)
    • Fun Lines reads the visible text on the page so it can replace mapped words and restore the original words when you clear decorations.
    • Fun Lines does not send this page text to any server.
  2. Current page URL (local only)
    • Fun Lines may read the active tab’s URL to apply changes to the correct tab and to avoid running on restricted pages (like chrome:// pages).
    • Fun Lines does not store your browsing history.
  3. Your settings and custom mappings (saved in Chrome extension storage)
    • Fun Lines saves your settings (on/off, intensity, limits, icon size, animation, bionic reading, bracket/style options, etc.).
    • Fun Lines saves any custom word-to-emoji/icon mappings you create.
    • These are stored using Chrome’s extension storage (for example, chrome.storage.sync).

How Fun Lines uses this data

  • To apply your chosen page decorations and reading effects.
  • To remember your settings and custom mappings.
  • To let you redecorate or clear pages.

Data sharing

  • Fun Lines does not sell your data.
  • Fun Lines does not share your data with third parties.
  • If Chrome Sync is enabled in your browser, Chrome/Google may sync your extension settings across your devices as part of Chrome Sync. Fun Lines does not run its own servers.

How long data is kept

  • Your settings and custom mappings stay in extension storage until you change them, clear extension data, or uninstall the extension.
  • Fun Lines does not keep copies of the pages you visit.

Security

  • Fun Lines runs locally and does not transmit page content to external servers.

Your choices

  • You can turn Fun Lines on/off from the popup.
  • You can clear decorations from the popup.
  • You can change settings anytime on the Options page.
  • You can uninstall the extension to remove it.

Children

  • Fun Lines is not intended for children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Changes

  • If this policy changes, the “Last updated” date will be updated.
